Min had baby girl on saturday. And when Shane sent me the picture announcing her arrival, I was driving to work. I glanced at the picture and started crying. I had to pull over because I couldn't see haha.

Tyler laughed when I told him that.

I'm not really sure why I cried. I was just really excited for my sister, sad I wasn't there, and thrilled for all the joy I know she'll bring! They were happy tears :)

Due to good timing (from a schedule stand point)

me and Tyler drove up to Logan to meet baby girl.

Since I work EVERY SINGLE DAY but Sunday, we had a chance to go and visit.

I was so excited!

I'm really excited about the new year and starting off fresh! :)

2011 was a great year, but a hard one!

-we remodeled part of our house and we are so happy with the outcome!!
-I turned 23
-job security for Tyler was rough

-Tyler turned 28
-we celebrated our 3 year anniversary!

-we owned a tanning salon for 3 weeks

-Molly girl joined our family :)

honestly I am grateful for the hard experiences, because it helped us grow closer to each other.

Even though things were tough at times, we really were/are so blessed!

I'm excited about making some new year 'commitments' :

-me gaining weight (no more 12 year old boy body! haha)

-me and tyler reading the book of mormon together (it's a 2012 challenge with the YM in our ward and we decided to join them)

-growing closer to my heavenly father

-becoming the best I can be

...just to name a few.

2011 helped me realize that I am a very strong person and I can do hard things

Christmas 2011

We had a wonderful 'Christmas Break'

We had our 4th annual Powell Christmas Party - it was so much fun! we had a great turn-out and some of the best white elephant gifts ever! I wish I would have taken pictures of all our wonderful friends and family and all the hilarious gifts they brought!

This christmas was nice because me and Tyler got to spend lots of time together! which is usually never the case. With past jobs that Ty has had - the christmas season was always the busiest.

Christmas Eve we went to dinner with the powells and Christmas morning we went over and had a yummy brunch and opened presents. Then we went to sacrament meeting and then headed to the Goodrich home. I can always count on my sister having her camera and that she will always take pictures!

after the shower we had so many balloons left over, so Shane decided to stab them with his large pocketknife in the blowing wind

BYU vs UT

I surprised Tyler with tickets to the big game for our anniversary about a month ago

We were so excited to go!

We hung out at the tailgate party before the game

got lots of free shirts, keychains, facepainting, popcorn, wristbands, finger fan and a byu backpack.

we also went to Dairy Queen and ate/relaxed outside the stadium before the game started.

even though it was the most embarassing and worst game in byu - utah game history

we still had so much fun!!!

haha, they were selling these shirts and also had

blue beards they were selling, it was hilarious!

I wish we would have gotten beards.

but they would have messed up our lovely painted faces. haha

AND my family is obsessed with beards.

3 years ago today I was at the Kanye West concert.

3 performers were before the lyrical genius.

on performer #3 (Rihanna) I started feeling very sick and ran up the stairs to the restroom. At the top of the stairs, I fainted.

Tyler felt like he should follow me to the restroom - which it's good he did. cause he caught me when I did faint.

He laid with me on the girls bathroom floor while I blacked in and out. Even when the cleaning lady hit him with a broom to shoo him away. haha. I'm sure everyone thought I had too much to drink or something. haha but no I just had the DEATHIEST stomach flu ever that came on so quick. I got it from my sister who got it from the Orchard 3rd Ward at girls camp. grrrrr.

Ty carried me out to his truck and drove me home.

I never got to see kanye perform and I'm still sad about it 3 years later.

Janae graduated yesterday! we are all so proud of her!

she was in the top of her class having a 3.9 gpa or higher!!

We attended graduation then headed to dinner, it was delicious!

Carly graduated this last week!!!

She is now a certified nurse and even has a job lined up which she starts next month!

I really admire her hard work ethic and determination. She is a year younger than me, graduated with a nursing degree - and me... I have 2 semesters completed. Haha ridiculous.

She has worked really hard and I know it was stressful and lots of work, but she is amazing!

I've always looked up to Carly and her kind example. She has always been so sweet to my family, especially Janson. They are both so good for each other and I love them.

He is a complete genius. AND he takes the time to learn how to fix things so he can always and forever do it himself. It amazes me really.

I came home from work today to find that Tyler had built shelves in our closet for MY many shoes. He got the bottom, I got the top (some of my shelves not pictured, cause they wouldn't fit in the frame) Some shelves are even double layered with shoes.

Do I have too many shoes?... NO way.

Many? YES. but not too many.

You can never have enough.

It all equals out though. Ty has way more clothes than me and I have way more shoes than him.

I am now 23 years old! That seems quite old... but I know it's not.

I had a fabulous day! Thanks to all my friends and family. I felt so loved by all the texts, phone calls, fbook posts, gifts, flowers, presents, and even a blog shout-out!

I did have to work from 8-5 but thanks to my nice friend Elise and my awesome boss, It was a great day! I got to go to lunch at wingers!

After work, I came home to lots of surprises thanks to my sweet Tyler.

I am so spoiled by him.

he watched me open gifts, took me to a delicious dinner at Tucanos, then we saw the movie RIO.

Puppies at the Pond

Today we took advantage of the beautiful weather outside!

Todd and Jess called to see if we wanted to take Barry and Sadie to a pond near their house.

The water was freezing cold because it was all the run-off water from the mountains. Barry was having a blast and kept grabbing sticks in his mouth as he swam. Sadie isn't too fond of water, but she did a good job and was very brave.

which means I'm heading back to camp! I'm really excited about it and I hope I can be a good leader and influence on the girls.

I am also very nervous! but it will be so much fun. I've always loved camp, always had a great experience there. I know many girls my age dreaded girls camp and hated going. But I always loved it!!

Last month my mom took me to lunch and then we ended up at Nickel City and played skee ball for an hour. haha My mom loves this game, she was really excited about all the tickets she won.

I love this woman.

This past week Tyler and I decided to check out the Provo Beach Resort at Riverwoods. It was a blast! I highly recommend it.

This weekend I'm looking forward to conference and working. It's gonna be a great couple of days!

I'm back to doing regular posts, which I'm sure everyone is grateful for. Haha!

This weekend we did some yard work, and I'm definately ready for spring to come because spring is when our yard looks it's very best!! I've got lots of tulips coming up already, and they are purple - my fav.

I got a new calling today. I can't say much about it yet, but it's big and I'm nervous.

I haven't had a calling for about 7 months since being a sunbeam teacher. They figured I needed a break after a much 'challenging' group of kids. haha

A couple in our ward invited us to dinner tonight, it was a good time! They have 2 smaller kids and they are so cute! We are trying to find friends in our ward (Yes, it's been about 3 years) but we just fit into such an awkward category. Most of the families in our ward are close to my parents age, not that there's anything wrong with that at all - but it gets hard trying to find couples to hang out with.

Tyler is still working with the priests. Now he is also coaching them in their basketball games. He tries his very best to be fair with all the boys and let them all play, but it gets tough when some of the parents keep nagging Ty to 'put their kid in more'.

Our remodel is almost completely finished. Except for some decor and a book/dvd case we are getting made. I'm excited to debut the before and after photos, it's a big change and we love it!

I seriously have no pictures to post, we haven't been taking any! But I did just use my scanner for the first time...

this is me at 5(?). I'm a bumblebee if you can't tell. It was one of my dance costumes and I'm clearly showing off my stinger. haha!

Honeymoon & last thoughts

We went to Las Vegas for our honeymoon. I had never stayed there, only driven through. We stay at Treasure Island and it was so nice to relax after the busy festivities of our perfect day.

We saw tigers, dolphins, walked the strip, went shopping, ate at yummy resturants, went swimming.

Tyler also took me to see 'Phantom of the Opera' and I absolutely loved it. Before the show started someone came up and asked if we wanted to be moved closer, of course we said yes!! They put us smack dab in the center so we could see everyone and we were right up front and right below the chandelier when it felt. I loved it, it was an amazing show and surprisingly Ty liked it too. I would love to see it again!

my thoughts on marriage:

I am definately no pro at it. Marriage is wonderful, but can be difficult too. I think it involves a lot of not being selfish and always thinking of the other person and their feelings. Being supportive, loving, understanding, patient, kind, honest, and quick to forgive. I definately don't give 100% to all those qualities. but neither does Tyler. We are not perfect, but we sure have learned a lot from our 2 1/2 years of marriage and it just keeps getting better! The first 6 months - 1 year was pretty tough for us. I think it was just getting adjusted to married life.

marriage is sometimes hard, but it is so worth it. Especially if the both of you are always wanting to grow stronger together and you are always working at being a better person. and striving to have that unconditional love. I do believe that the gospel is such a huge part of marriage and all the teachings go hand in hand with creating a wonderful marriage and family.

first place we lived together:

Sadly I never took a picture of our first apartment. It was in pleasant grove and Tyler had moved in 1 month before we got married so all our things were moved in and situated, which made it nice. We bought our current home 3 months after getting married. It's funny to think back to that fall cause Tyler was really excited to buy a house and I was having none of it. I was too scared to take on such a big responsibility, all the debt that comes with it. I think I was mostly scared of it because it seemed so 'grown up' and I felt like I wasn't ready for that. What else is new. I'm a slow mover. and I don't like change. But NOW I absolutely LOVE the home we own. It is beautiful, and we are so very lucky and so very blessed. I definately thank my lucky stars everyday for the shelter we have over our heads.

Kids?:

No kiddos for us yet. But we feel like Barry is our child and we treat him just like family. For those who know me well remember that I used to HATE dogs and was actually really afraid of them. But once we bought a house Tyler was bent on getting a dog. I said 'fine' - but I was really not okay with it. It took about 10 months till I would let him sit on my lap. But now I love that puppy!!! He has sneaked his way into my heart. I love that he greets me everytime I come home and he has the funniest personality. He is funny, playful, loving, happy, obedient.WE love him! we call him: Little Boy, Puppy, Pup, Bare, Barry

We haven't taken many pictures this year, oops.

There are so many wonderful qualities I could praise Tyler for. I will just touch on a few. Tyler is very thoughtful (example: if you read when I fell in love with him). He always looks good. I mean ALWAYS. He is very handsome. He is always buying me stuff, and that is one of the ways he shows his love. I write notes, tyler buys things. Tyler is determined and the most hard-working person I have ever met. Tyler has a strong testimony of the gospel and is always trying to think of ways for missionary work. I'm thankful that he puts up with me - I can be very frustrating sometimes. I'm grateful for his example and I love him so very much! Life just keeps getting better!

Thursday. It was the most perfect day.

We were married at 11:00AM in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. We were so blessed with tons of people there to support us. I'm so grateful for all those who came. The sealing ceremony was pretty amazing and I will never forget the spirit I felt there. I guess I was kinda nervous cause I actually ended up putting tyler's ring on the wrong hand.

Our wedding luncheon was at Thanksgiving Point (no pictures though)

And our reception was at the Powell's Home in their backyard. I was so happy to have a summer wedding. I never wanted a reception in a church cultural hall. Not that there's anything wrong with doing it that way, I just always dreamed of summer, outside, and beauty!

After taking tons of pictures at the temple, we both went home to our new apartment. It was really funny because we ended up being late to our own luncheon and my in-laws were pretty upset (naturally). BUT the reason for us being late was not what you are thinking... haha
We were trying to fit my bouquet into a vase and have it sit in the fridge, we ended up breaking the fridge. We were also getting a million calls from relatives/friends/ward members at the Powell home telling us there was a runaway goat running all over the yard and that we needed to come help. haha. I am dead serious.

It was the most perfect day. no matter what had happened that day - I was the happiest girl ever!

the whole day felt like a dream. And it was the best dream ever. I couldn't stop smiling and I was overwhelmed with love for my family and friends and all those who supported us. People are so kind. The most important thing about that whole day was the fact that I was now sealed to Tyler forever and ever. I love him so much. I'm not sure where I'd be without him.

Since we didn't get to take groomals up at the Alta/Snowbird ski resort, last second we decided to take some shots of us at the temple a couple nights before our wedding! Although we did it right after we had both gotten off work (there wasn't much time to get ready) they still turned out great.

I'm really glad we did that because on your big day there is so much going on and it's kinda crazy.

here are some of the details about the wedding.

My colors were black white and red

I'm not a fan of fake acrylic nails, but I do always have painted nails. so of course I went with red.

for the wedding day, I DID NOT want bride hair. so I figured curly and down would be safe.

the reception was held in Tyler's parents backyard. It's BIG and very beautiful!! and it was free. that's always a plus :)

I didn't want matchy match bridesmaids dresses. so as you can see my mom and sisters all have completely different black and white on. I really liked it!

as you can see we had a 'P' theme everywhere. And on our invitations we stamped every envelope with a P. It took hours. haha We also had parting favors that were white boxes with a P stamp with ribbon and inside were red, black, and white M&M's that said our names and the day of our wedding.

As for my bridals, I took them up Alta/Snowbird ski resort. I really wanted some 'groomals' - but Tyler couldn't get work off, so it was just me :(

Naturally I got my dress from Allyse's Bridal. It was more plain than I thought I would get, but I LOVED IT. the only really frustrating thing was the fact that I lost lots of weight from when the dress was altered till my wedding day, so I didn't 'fill it out' quite as nicely as I had once I bought the dress. But I still loved it the same. and I wouldn't have changed a thing about it!
I don't really like veils, so I chose to go without.

this next pose... I'm not sure how I even contorted my body this way and it's a very strange angle, but I actually really love it!

the last pictures we took were in the field and it had started raining, so we decided to call it a day. I jumped in the car with my mom and while she was coming around the car to get in the drivers seat I could hear this loud buzzing noise. I then realized that a bee was in the many layers of my dress!! I started freaking out and my mom realized what was going on and she started unzipping my dress and I was crawling towards the back seat trying to get out of my dress!! I was so scared I was gonna get stung by that bee. Thankfully my mom helped me get out of my dress and we drove the whole way home with me in my underwear. haha!

Proposal

Tyler took me to Disneyland for my 20th Bday! (He spoils me, I am telling you!) It was such a blast and we had been talking about getting married, but he knew I wanted to be at least 20 years old, haha! After disneyland, we came home and went ring shopping. We went to about 5 ring places and finally found the best store! (wilson diamonds! they have so many options) So I had about 20 rings I loved, haha and I finally narrowed it down.

Well Tyler texted me one thursday and said he had paid for the rings and that they should be ready in about a week! I was super excited!

That saturday (May 10, 2008) Tyler told me he was taking me on a memory date! again, Whatever that meant! haha. I wasn't expecting anything and just thought he was taking me out on a fun date!

He picked me up and took me to the Provo movie theaters - our first date! We just talked about our first date and it was fun to look back and remember all the good memories. He then took me to Raintree - where his first apartment was when we had started dating. He then took me to Hogi yogi, because of course that's where we had initially met. Then we drove to the Timpanogos Temple and walked about the temple. We both loved this temple and had talked about this being the temple we would get married in.

we were standing at the front of the temple near the bench, it was a beautiful sunset and that's when Tyler got down on his knee pulled out the ring and asked me if I would marry him. I thought it was a joke and actually started walking away, haha! Once I realized he was serious of course I said YES! we went to Los Hermanos and ate dinner. I couldn't eat much because I was so excited, I couldn't stop smiling and staring at my beautiful ring and staring at tyler! It was like a dream!

So, little did I know this whole "memory date" we were on, I was actually being filmed the WHOLE time. Tyler had a roommate who made professional commercials. So tyler had a microphone inside his shirt and his 2 roommates were following us around filming us! I had NO idea. It's awesome because I have our whole engagement on DVD! I was pretty clueless cause I look straight into the camera about 2 times during the whole night, but I had no idea! haha. I'm so glad I have a copy of that night I will always cherish it.

It was also pretty embarassing (afterwards) because right before we had driven up to the temple I had said something pretty embarassing about one of tyler's roommates girlfriend and he happened to be the one listening with the headphones, haha I did notice tyler clutch his shirt after that had happened and now looking back it makes a lot of sense! But honestly I had no idea someone else was listening to our conversation! it was just me and Ty so of course I was just talking about anything and everything! pretty funny.

On our wedding day tyler gave me a wedding band to go with my ring and I absolutely love it. I stare at my rings sometimes, they are perfect for me and I think they are the most beautiful rings!!

Pretty sure Tyler knew he wanted to marry me WAY before I had even thought about it. He claims that night he saw me at the bridal fair in those wedding dresses he thought to himself 'I could totally marry that girl'. - cute right? He said 'I love you' way before I said it. I was a slow mover.

But I did realize in December of 2007 that what we had could definately get very serious. Tyler worked for his dad at Powell Garage Doors, he made the fancy carriage house doors. He was cutting some wood one day at work and cut the whole end of his pointer finger off!!! He obviously went to the hospital, went through surgery and luckily they were able to sew his finger back on and his finger looks completely normal.

Well we would text tons while we were at work, but he failed to mention any of the dramatic finger stuff that day. That very night we had a date planned, he came to pick me up at my apartment, and I asked him the usual how his day was, he pulled his hands out of his jacket and said 'Well, I cut my finger off today' and there was his hand bandanged up and huge. I FELT AWFUL. I'm like "UMMM, why are we even doing something tonight!? You need to be home and in bed!!" He was also on lots of pain killers, but yet he was driving us around provo, haha. silly boy.

We took it easy and just hung out at his apartment and watched a movie. He was in lots of pain and pretty loopy - so I felt really bad. The next day I left with my family to drive to California for my cousin Zoey's wedding! The next 2 days I kept waiting around to hear back from Tyler, he wouldn't answer my texts or my calls and I was getting really worried! I knew his roommates had school and work, so if he was like bleeding to death in his bedroom, no one would know! It was then I realized that I really cared for this guy, all I could think about was if he was okay or not. After almost 2 1/2 days I was ready to call his mother!!! I didn't know her, didn't know the phone number, but I could look it up in the phone book/on the internet. I was just about to call her and ask how tyler was doing. haha!! But I finally heard back from Tyler, he had woken up the morning after our date and had bled everywhere, he had been in the hospital getting the bleeding under control and getting the pain somewhat bearable.

I was very relieved. I did order him some balloons and chocolates to be delivered to his apartment when I was out in california, I was hoping it would be something to make him feel better and know that I cared. When they showed up at his apartment, he was gone, but his roommates had taken it into his room. When Ty saw them he thought it was one of his roommates playing a joke on him and saying it was from me. and he was mad about that! haha, but he found out that I really did do it and he said he was shocked I would do something like that.

Also, a few weeks after the whole cutting his finger off, he told me he wanted to take me on a 'service date'. Whatever that meant! I was confused, but it didn't matter, cause I was just excited to be with him. He picked me up at the mall, cause I had just gotten off work, I got into his truck and the back of his truck cab was FILLED with food, I was really confused. He then told me that we were donating all this food to the food bank and doing the giving tree at the university mall for 3 kids who didn't have anything.

I. Was. Speechless. Here was a 24 year old guy spending his friday night grocery shopping for hundreds of dollars of food so that he could give it to the food bank and also spending money on 3 kids at the giving tree who didn't have anything for christmas. I think this was the real moment that I fell in love with Tyler. although I wouldn't say it for about 3 months longer. It really showed me how christ-like he was, that he thought about those who were less fortunate and was really wanting to serve. It was so sweet and I had never met a guy who thought about service so much!

*If you hate reading stories, then you can just skip this! but I think hearing this type of stuff is really fun. Whoever wants to join me, feel free!

I met Tyler at Hogi Yogi back in 2005. I was 16 and he was a returned missionary. He was my boss. We flirted lots and he even told me since I was such a young thang that he would teach me how to make out! haha, which is quite surprising, cause he is so not someone to say that to a girl he hardley knows. He would email the schedules out to all the co-workers each week. I would always write down my schedule and his, cause I loved working with him and I thought he was SO cute. He ended up leaving hogi yogi and so did I. We never kept in contact.

Then in January 2006 we met again. I was modeling for Allyse's Bridal at a bridal fair at Thanksgiving Point. He saw me up on stage. He was there with his fiance and mother. He came up to me afterwards and introduced me to his fiance and his mother. I was excited for him that he was getting married. (little did I know, they broke up that night!)

Then in June of 2007 he emailed me and asked how I was doing. I thought it was weird that a married man was emailing me and replied back questioning why a married guy was contacting me. He told me that didn't work out and wanted to get together. Our first date was in July 2007 and we went out to Tepanyaki's and to see 'Transformers' (tyler's favorite movie) at the provo theaters. Tyler kept calling me 'Kayley' that night (to this day he still denies it) but he really did call me kayley a couple times. he dated a lot of 'K' named girls, haha so I understand the confusion.

Our first kiss was 8 months later. 8 MONTHS PEOPLE. I told myself I would not be the one to kiss him first. and it took him forever to get the courage. He did have a rule where he wouldn't kiss a girl till she was his girlfriend. He kept asking me to be exclusive and I kept saying no. I was scared of commitment. Tyler was my first real boyfriend. We kissed at his apartment on the love sack watching our favorite show 'Rob & Big'. His roommates girlfriend was spying on us the whole time. haha

He was so persistant with dating me that eventually I couldn't resist, haha! He treated me so good, gave me diamond earrings, loved my family, he even took the time to drive my little sister to fillmore to see the boy she liked and I wasn't even there in the car with them! gave me millions of flowers and did everything he could to make me happy. He was so sweet. I just love that boy.

ramblings of a monday

Today is a yucky day.

I have had a very bad cold/flu all weekend. and haven't been sleeping well because of it. and today while I've been at work I've also developed an Earache!? perfect. it hurts. and i'm not sure if it's just my cold moving to my ear - can that happen!? I can't hear anything.

Also I get to work 14 hours today. YAY. I'm also at work alone this whole week, cause my lucky co-worker went to disneyland!! jealous.

my house is a complete wreck (because of the remodel) but Ty is finishing all the painting today. I'm so excited for new carpet and to get my house back together. but most of all I would love to just feel better. with all the stuff I have to do this week - it would be much easier if I was back to my old self. BUT I guess it could always be worse, right? right.

I think I need to be more positive right now. Things I'm grateful for:

Wolf Creek

We have a time share up at Wolf Creek, we decided to go this past weekend - just for a little getaway. I love that it's not very far away!

We brought Todd & Jess, Brian & Megan, Steven & Becca

(Janson and Carly were missed)

We had a blast! We bought groceries before heading up the canyon, and fixed up food in the kitchen. One night we went out to dinner. We went hot tubbing, played lots of games, and we were very lazy - my kind of relaxing! It snowed TONS while we were up there.

It was a really short trip, but a good time. We love our family and friends!

We did get this last picture by using our timer (becca and steven had already left sadly!) But all this snow in the picture fell while we were up there! it was crazy deep!!!

we are also going through a remodel at our house. We are cutting down our awkward sized family room and adding a laundry room. I CANNOT WAIT. It will be so nice to have a laundry room instead of a laundry hallway. and it's really going to open up the whole area. I've been taking lots of pictures as the process goes on, so when it's all done and we decorate I will be posting the befores and afters. YAY

Me and Ty celebrated Valentines day over the weekend and it was fabulous!!

I was really excited to have a saturday off for once!

In the morning I went and got mani-pedi's with the Powell girls, Randi and Jess (I love them!)

We had a blast and chatted forever. Then I got to see Min and Shane (but only for a few minutes) they came down from Logan.

Then me and ty headed up to Park City with Todd and Jess. We went shopping at the outlet stores then to our fancy Valentines dinner at Ghidotti's. Which is an Italian resturant, it was SO delicious.

We spend the rest of the night shopping, and eating ice cream with Todd and Jess. They are the best, I seriously lucked out with both of them! And jess is the best sis-in-law ever!!

I brought my camera along, hoping to document the whole thing, but I guess we were just having too much fun and I completely forgot about my camera packed in my purse.

Mondays are usually boring to me. Monday means the weekend is over and a new week has begun. Monday also means I work both jobs which means it's usually about a 13 -14 hour day for me at work. Which usually puts me in a grumpy mood, cause that means I have to miss the Bachelor. HAHA.

Last night I came home from work about 10PM. Mind you, I'd been working since 8 AM. I was really tired, my hair was greasy and I needed a shower. I showered and relaxed on my bed. Tyler said he was making a cake downstairs. A while later, he came upstairs to tell me the cake was done if I wanted some. I walked in the kitchen to find this:

Roses, a huge heart box filled with my favorite chocolates (dark chocolate) some decor, lip gloss, my favorite candle, and a delicious chocolate cake made into a heart.

YUM.

Tyler told me it was for 'early valentines day'. He wanted it to be a surprise. and I definately was surprised! What a guy. I love him. he's mine.

He also bought me a piano!! it's being refinished as we speak! I'm so excited. I'm also very blessed to have Tyler as my husband/best friend. He knows me SO well - and this 'surprise' he was planning was done at the perfect moment and time.

CHRISTMAS was wonderful this year!

we spent christmas morning together and opened a few presents and our stockings. Most of our christmas was Cabo, which was the best gift ever! But we had a few small things for each other to open and it was awesome!

Then we headed off to the Powell home for christmas brunch.

We stayed for a couple hours and exchanged gifts and watched Titan opens all his presents, he was so spoiled! here he is in his cute snow outfit that he got from grandma and grandpa.

Then we headed to the Goodrich home where we exchanged gifts, ate christmas dinner, played games and went to the movies to see 'True Grit' - it was a fabulous movie!! after the movie was over tyler really wanted to see 'Tron' so we bought our tickets and went right back into the theater. That was a great movie too, but I did start to get restless in my seat from being in those uncomfortable chairs for hours.

I love christmas time. and I love family. Luckily we live by both families so we are always able to see everyone on the holidays :)

my little sister MarLyn (Min) got married Tuesday December 28th to Shane Hill. They are so good for each other and I'm so glad that Min found someone who treated her right and someone who is always there for her! Shane is such a nice guy and I'm way excited that he is part of the family now :)

Many things have happened since I last posted:

-celebrated our 3rd annual Powell Christmas Party with friends and family

-had our furnace break 4 times

-had a small basement fire because of broken furnace

-had a wonderful christmas holiday

-my little sis got married!!!

-celebrated dad Powell's 50th birthday on New Years Eve

-we purchased a nice computer, YAY I'm so excited

-and today our furnace broke again. YAY

haha, I've got lots of pictures to post. I am waiting for us to get internet at our house. I used to do all my blogging at work, but now that we've purchased a computer I can do my blogging from home now!

I am excited to welcome 2011.

I have many new years commitments. I like the word 'commitments' instead of 'resolutions'. Then its an actual commitment to those things I want to do better at!

We had such a great time! 3 couples went. My parents, My aunt and uncle & me and tyler. My aunt Deb and uncle Rob have an amazing Penthouse there with a beachfront view!!! it was absolutely amazing. we each had our own rooms and bathrooms and had a huge kitchen and dining area, it was fabulous. We are so lucky to have such great family who are so kind to let us come! It was really short notice too. We booked our flights 12 days before we actually left. We had been invited months ago, but with tyler's crazy work schedule we knew it wouldn't be able to happen. But last second some of his shows got canceled, so we figured things out and booked our flights!

it was so crappy to come home to the freezing cold, but we did miss our puppy!!! I think me and ty definately needed a week long break from work, it was so relaxing.

1)When is your "marriage" anniversary? "engagement" anniversary?
We got married August 21, 2008. Engaged May 10, 2008

2) Where/how did you meet your spouse for the first time?
In the lobby of Hogi Yogi (down in Riverwoods) - back in 2005.

3) How long have you known your spouse:
I guess from when we first met, we've known each other for 6 years?
4) How long did you date/court before you were engaged?
We had been dating for about 1 year.

5) Do you have any children:
Nope nope.

6) Do you have any house pets:
Yes, our cute Puppy named Barry. I LOVE HIM.

7) What are some of your favorite activities together:
we like to go to movies together. Shop for home decor, haha. Play with our puppy
.8) Do you have a favorite vacation spot:
Tyler's favorite is Hawaii. I've never been to Hawaii. My favorite is Cabo. Tyler's never been to Cabo. EXCEPT we are going there Saturday!!!!! So I have a feeling that will be our favorite :)

9) Where was your first date?
We went to dinner at Tepanyaki's, then to see 'Transformers' at the Provo Mall. (one of Ty's favorite movies.)

10) When did you first kiss?
haha, this is so sad but true. He waited 9 months to kiss me. 9 MONTHS!! He had a 'rule' that he didn't kiss girls that weren't his girlfriend, and I kept being too scared and not wanting to be his girlfriend. Haha. But when we finally kissed it was great, cause we were watching our favorite show Rob & Big, while laying on the love sac while his roommates girlfriend spied on us. (HI megan) haha

11)Who said I Love you First?
Tyler did. It was really cute. We were in front of my house in his truck and he told me he needed to tell me something, but he didn't want me to respond at all.
12) Did you get married in a church?
Nope. The Mt. Timpanogos Temple.
13) Where did you go on your honeymoon:
Las Vegas.
14) How long did you know each other before you started dating?
3 years.
15)What do you call each other most of the time?
He calls me Kayla, Babe, or 'Dear'. I call him Ty, Love, or 'Dear. nothing too cool. people laugh at us that we call each other 'Dear' - cause it's like old people. But I like it.
16)Where do you each work or go to school?
Tyler works for Dowdle Folk Art, also his side job Pillow Tie. I work for Dr. Burr who is an endodontist and then at the Mall part time. we basically work a lot.
17) Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Hmmm... it changes. haha
18) Did you go to the same school?
seeing as we are 5 years apart. No. But we did both attend UVU at one point. ( back when it was UVSC)
19) Are you from the same home town?
He grew up in California, but claims he's from Lindon. I grew up in Orem. so pretty close.

20) Who is smarter?
DEFINATELY tyler.
21) Who is more sensitive?
me for sure. But what do you expect, I take a hormone pill everyday! haha
22)Where do you eat out most as a couple?
PF Changs, Olive Garden, Del Taco
23) What attracted you to him first?
He was SO cute. Great smile, always smelled good. He was really sweet to me and always treated me well. He loved my family!!

24) Who is more social?
Me.
25) Who is the neat-freak?
Neither? haha. I guess we like certain things clean. So basically our room is usually a mess. but I've kept it really clean since he left for China and it's gonna stay that way!!!
26) What are HIS favorite things and HER favorite things?
Tyler: Sleeping, watching movies, Sunny D, buying/selling anything and everything, NOT being lazy.
Kayla: Sleeping, dancing, exercising, shopping, chocolate.

Sorry, I know I keep talking about China, but I just thought I'd post a few pictures Tyler took while he was there.

You must realize Ty only had 2 1/2 days for "fun" to do whatever he wanted. The rest of the time he was slaving away in the factories (dead serious) working around 80 hours a week.

He was SO EXCITED to find a pizza hut. He order a medium personal pan pizza and this is what he got.

He was really stressed out there with all he had to do. But this is Tyler we're talking about. He gets anything and everything done, no matter how hard the task.
I'm grateful that I have such a hard-working husband. But, I do wish we got to see each other more.
After christmas the craziness of his job dies down. (I hope).

We are both busy with work right now (especially Ty) But things are great! We are very grateful for that jobs that we have!!! We consider ourselves very lucky and blessed.

Tyler is back. back into my arms. He ended up coming home 2 days earlier than planned, so that was exciting.

He is very sick though. headache, lots of coughing, stuffed up. my poor love.

He brought me home China candy. Skittles, Dove Bars, crazy fruity things. YUM. He also bought a way nice camera out there, YAY!!! Now you hopefully can enjoy some better photographs? I just have to figure out how to use such a nice camera.

He lost 11 pounds in China. Me and Barry picked him up at the airport. It was quite the sight. Barry was so excited.

I'm so happy to have him HOME.

I will definately post some pictures from china that he took.

Tyler is in CHINA.

He went with his dad, Dave. Tyler is out there for work and will be very busy! He gets back in about two weeks. I'm gonna miss him soo much! AND he took my camera to take many a picture (hopefully) so, I won't have any exciting pictures to share with you for the next while. But when he gets back I'm hoping to have lots to post from his trip!!

Tyler is NOT good at flying. He hates flying and absolutely dreads it. According to Dave, tyler has been in the bathroom throwing up basically the whole plane trip. They had a couple lay-overs and in Chicago Dave had to help carry Tyler out of the plane. Glorious. My poor Tyler!! The flight to China was about 15 hours, the first 4 hours were really bad for Tyler, but after that he felt a little bit better which I am grateful for. They are both now sleeping in a hotel. I'm really really grateful that my father in law is out in China with Tyler and especially knowing how tyler is with flying - I'm glad Dave is with him.

Walk for Diabetes 2010

The walk this year was a HUGE success!!! Thanks so much to all the many friends and family who came to support the GOODRICH GANG.

We were SO GLAD to see Min, because the night before she had gotten in a really bad accident, which ended up totalling her car! She was just fine, THANK GOODNESS! just some scrapes and bruises, but it definately could have been worse.

NEWS:
I got released from my calling yesterday. I've been the sunbeam teacher in our current ward for almost 2 years. Before that I was also a sunbeam teacher in my home ward. So basically what I'm saying is that I've been teaching sunbeams for a little over 3 years. I guess it was time to be done?

I have mixed feelings. I'm excited to be done with sunbeams, because the moment we moved into our current ward I was put into primary. I don't know any of the women in the ward, and lots of people ask if I'm new in the ward. Cause obviously I don't go to Sunday School, cause of primary and then we had our primary class I went to. So I haven't really been in relief society in my current ward ever! So that will be fun to get to know some women in the ward.

But I will miss teaching those little 3 year olds. It made me realize that even when children are 3, they listen, they learn and they know what parents/adults are doing. They are very innocent, sweet, smart and say the funniest things sometimes! SO I will definately miss that!

I've definately learned lots from those little 3 year olds and I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to be their teacher!

It was fun to catch up with Kristin and hear about her lover, Cameron! I am so excited for her!
I have great memories with her, which include... playing Newsies, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Little Woman, "Imagination", notebook swapping. haha, we sure were crazy when we were little, but we had a blast!

On Saturday August 21st, Me and tyler celebrated our 2 Year Anniversary!!!

The day was fabulous. We started it off early in the morning, we headed up to Salt Lake. We were refinancing our home for a lower interest rate... I'm talking SUPER low! So we were really excited about that and about all the money it's going to be saving us! We went to sign all the papers at 8 AM. We then went to breakfast at Kneaders and went home to take a 3 hour nap. We were really tired.

Then we decided to go up to Gardner Village - I had never been there!! It was really fun. Some people may think this is weird, but me and tyler LOVE to go look for Decor and Furniture for our house.. haha TYLER especially loves it! He's always been that way and actually has really good taste, so I totally don't mind! It was so much fun, they had so many cute stores and things to look at. We spent about 6 hours there and got lots of things, which I'm really excited about!

Then we went to dinner and a movie! It was really fun!! It was just nice to spend the whole day together and having a day off was nice too! I love my Tyler, I can't believe it's already been 2 years. Time flies when you get married, I swear!!

Fausett Family Reunion 2010

This is my mother's side of the family. I love them! I love spending time with family. The great thing about this reunion is the fact that there is no cell phone service, so no one can get a hold of you. You can do whatever you want!! Fishing, sleeping, eating, playing cards, laughing, holding babies. And that's all we did for 4 days and it was fabulous!!!

One of the days we went fishing. I caught 5 fish. 2 of them fell off my hook while pulling them out of the water. But I was so proud of myself.

We took Barry this year. Which, after the first night we thought it was a big mistake. He didn't sleep at all the first night. We think he was nervous and he had never been camping before. me and tyler stayed up all night with him. The rest of the days he did great and was such a good puppy!!

It was so nice to spend time with family, but it was also nice to come home and shower, and sleep in a real bed!

It was so much fun to see everyone! LOVE you all.

My little sister MarLyn and her boyfriend Shane set up a Kalai concert in Shane's backyard. It was FABULOUS. if you have never heard of Kalai or listened to him... you are missing out! There were about 30 people, we all just sat on blankets and listened to his heavenly voice. It was so much fun! Tyler didn't come with me because a few hours before the concert, he had just returned home from Scout Camp. He was super tired and trying to recooperate. haha. But all my sibilings went and it was a blast!!

Powerade, Dezi, & BBQ...

A few months ago we bought TONS of powerade. They were on sale for an amazing deal at Smiths. If you have been to our house, you would have seen it stacked in our basement bedroom all the way to the ceiling. Seriously, we have TONS of powerade. We bought about 2000 for tyler and steven (our friend) to make money off of, and 2000 to sell for Juvenile Diabetes Research for my little sister, Janae. We got a great deal on all the powerade! That was a few months ago...

Sunday night we thought it would be a good idea to drive down to Provo and sell Powerade! Especially with all the people sleeping out. We brought our tent and our great friends, Becca and Steven joined us. We sold a few during the early morning on Monday. Then we did watch a big fight go down! it was crazy, and I was scared.

We had camped out right by some houses, the people living there were drinking lots!
Apparantly one of the really drunk guys pulled a knife on a girl. They had called the cops on him and kept telling him to leave. He wouldn't. His name was Dezi. His friend kept trying to convince him to leave, or walk around the block, that he was way too drunk to even do anything, Dezi tried head butting his friend, but didn't even get near his head. I have also never heard the F word so many times. It was AWFUL. They used it every other word I swear. It was really getting out of hand and Tyler kept standing right by the two guys. I was worried that Dezi would start punching everyone and anyone.

Tyler and Steven flagged down some cops, and all the sudden 5 cop cars pulled up right where we were with all their lights on. haha it was so scary! It was like an episode of 'Cops'. The cops asked us what was going on and we told them. They talked with Dezi and friend, then they handcuffed Dezi. He kept saying "I'm gonna break these handcuffs!!" And then he tried spitting as he was sitting in the gutter handcuffed and he spit on himself, the cops just started laughing. It was pretty funny, then they hauled him away. We felt cool cause everyone came up to us asking what happened, cause we had been right in the middle of it. Haha so that made the night more eventful and at least gave us a story to tell.

We tried to get some sleep. It was surprisingly really cold. I couldn't sleep very well. When I woke up , I went out of the tent and tyler had fallen asleep outside on the grass and I couldn't even see his head. it was a very uncomfortable position.
As it got warmer before the parade we sold more and during the parade we sold quite a bit! I'd say it was a success! I did see some people I knew (HI chelsea!) and some people saw me, (HI chloe!)
We got home at 1 in the afternoon, slept for 4 hours, then cleaned house and got ready for our BBQ and fireworks. We had lots of family and friends come and it was a blast and a great end to the long weekend! we love our friends! Unfortunately, I took no pictures of the party! I really wish I had.

I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends (Becca and Steven) who helped us out with selling powerade, we couldn't have done it without you!!

The 4th of July is always a fun holiday, this year was probably one of my top favorites! Grateful for holidays, family, friends and love :)

Art Festival

This weekend, I tagged along with Tyler to do one of the art festivals in Logan for his work. It was long hours and really hot!! But we survived!

There were many interesting things I saw in Logan. I never knew so many people loved puzzles. I observed that many people there wore chaco sandals. (I hate those things). I also observed an older gentlemen probably late 50's, had a beard, a big gut, cargo shorts, polo shirt, flip flops and BRIGHT red toenails. yes, he had painted his toenails red... I was quite curious. I also saw a woman that had homemade bat wings. She had a backpack on and connected to that were huge bat wings. There were strings connected to her wrists, so when she brought both arms out to the side, her wings would expand out. very stray. But it kept me entertained!

We were sad to miss the Rodeo this weekend, we also missed Barry. But it was fun to spend lots of time with Tyler and eat nasty festival food! haha

Those pictures just show a little part of our booth. It took us 2 1/2 hours to take down everything and load it into the sprinter. it was hard work!! I couldn't believe tyler has done this before ALL by himself. So now I have decided I have a new found respect for those who work at art festivals. My husband sure is a trooper! I love him.

I used to model with all these girls at Allyse's Bridal. They are all so beautiful! We gathered together for JESSICA and LANAYA's Bridal Shower!!

It was fun to catch up with all of them. Some of these girls I haven't seen since 2006!! married ones, single ones, engaged ones, pregnant ones, already have family ones. It was fun to see them all at different stages of life. Our 'fashion team' had a ton more girls on it, but these are just a few that were able to make it to the shower.

My beautiful friend, McRae married Travis last saturday. They were kind enough to invite me and tyler to all the wonderful festivities! I love going to sealings to see friends married! Travis is such a nice guy, I don't know him too well, but he is very kind and he is very lucky to get McRae. She is beautiful, wonderful, kind, loving and funny. I'm so happy for them! CONGRATS!!

California Vacation!!

We just got back from our fabulous vacation! It was a blast! One whole week for vacation was definately wonderful. I didn't take as many pictures as I thought, and I didn't even get any at Disneyland. Oh wells.

Saturday the 15th we left and drove to Vegas. Steven's sister-in-law let us stay with her in her parents house. We played in the pool, then got ready and walked the strip.

Then we woke up sunday morning and headed the rest of the way to California. Our resort was awesome!!!! the rooms were so nice!

Monday we went to disneyland, It was so much fun! the weather was cloudy, and a little chilly - but that made things nice because there were no lines and hardly any people!

Tuesday, Tyler had to do a little bit of work in San Diego. So he dropped me off at my aunt and uncle's house. I hung out with my cousins, Trissy and Danica, then Debby made us dinner and we played card games! It was so much fun to see some family! I love them and they were very nice to babysit/entertain me and make us dinner!

Wednesday was beach day!! The boys went boogie boarding and the girls laid out and

took a nap.

I still can't believe those four boys let us take pictures of them all lined up and matching!!

Thursday was relax day. We slept in. Went to the pool. Slept. It was nice.

Friday was another day at Disneyland!

For those of you who don't know me, I HATE ROLLER COASTERS. I'm quite afraid of them. But I am happy to say that I went on Screaming California TWICE!!!!! I am awesome. I had to squeeze tyler's hand, push my head against the shoulder pads and hold my hand over my mouth, haha - BUT I still did it!

Tyler and Ian went on it 3 times in a row. 1 time was enough for me. I went once on Monday and once on Friday. it worked out well.

Saturday we went to the Swap Meet and bought some things and then we decided to drive all the way home! We got home early sunday morning around 1 AM. Here are a few random pictures taken a long the way.

We had so much fun! I love my friends so much! they are kind, patient and very understanding! They also make me laugh so hard!! Especially when we play catch phrase. I'm so grateful to have such good friends who are also good examples to me and make me want to be a better person. LOVE YOU GUYS.

Sunday night, tyler slept, so I went to my parents house and Zoey and Baby Blake came over!! I was so happy, I love him.

Happy Late Mother's Day!! I love my mommy and mother-in-law. they are very fabulous! I'm lucky to have them!

Yesterday the weather was so nice - Todd and Jess called us up wondering if we wanted to go to Utah Lake after church. We definately wanted to, considering the weather was actually nice that day. So, we took our puppies out in the water and had a great time!

It was Sadie's first time at Utah lake, she didn't like the water like Barry does. Todd kept letting go of her in the water and she was so scared, she just followed him around in the water. Or she would latch onto tyler's shorts and wouldn't let go. haha it was so funny!

We've been getting some yard work done recently. our yard is looking great!! and I'm proud to say that I've been helping lots. haha yard work really isn't my thing. Tyler knows all about it though, but I'm usually the one pulling out a bush thinking it's a weed -- oops!

yes I'm bragging. tyler prunes the trees, cuts the grass, 'straight edges' the grass, rakes, plants flowers and bushes and I pull weeds. haha!

we have so many flowers in our front yard, I'm loving it.

This coming Saturday me and tyler are leaving to California!!! we are going with 3 other couples that we are really good friends with! I cannot wait! I will definately have lots of pictures to show. disneyland and the beach awaits us!!
